Tennessee Tech University is offering STEM Lit through an Improving Teacher Quality (ITQ) Grant award. STEM Lit will use engineering challenges as defined by the National Academy of Engineering that address current societal issues as a means to develop knowledge and use of coding, robotics, 3D printing and modeling, technical reading and writing, statistical analysis skills, and science content and pedagogical skills. Teachers will use the NSTA Learning Center to locate resources for instruction and complete personalized PD modules called SciPacks as a means to improve their science content & pedagogical knowledge. Participants will receive explicit instruction for the use of various “flipped” classroom tools and be challenged to develop their own teaching modules for their own students to complete out of class in lieu of lecturing during class.
