Principal's Letter to Parents

April 16, 2018

Dear Parents:

Students in 3rd through 8th grades will be taking the spring TN Ready beginning this week. This year the tests for 5-8 students will be online.

We will be rewarding all students who exhibit appropriate behaviors during the test with recess time throughout the testing window. Appropriate behaviors include being attentive, listening carefully to teacher directions, reading material carefully, highlighting important information in the text, eliminating answers they aren’t sure of, and checking over their answers carefully when they finish the test. Students should not talk, randomly answer without reading, lay their heads down and sleep, and or read other materials or do other things during the test. Also, students should spend an adequate amount of time on each test, i.e., they should not finish a 47-minute test in 10 minutes.

The TNReady for MMS students will be conducted according to the following schedule:

    • ELA                            Subpart 1 (Writing)                             Tuesday, April 17, 2018
    • Math                            Subparts 1, 2                                      Wednesday, April 18, 2018
    • Math                            Subpart 3                                             Thursday, April 19, 2018
    • ELA/Math                   Make-up Testing                                 Friday, April 20, 2018
    • ELA                            Subparts 2, 3                                       Monday, April 23, 2018
    • ELA                            Subpart 4                                             Tuesday, April 24, 2018
    • Science                        Subparts 1, 2                                       Wednesday, April 25, 2018
    • Social Studies             Subparts 1, 2                                       Thursday, April 26, 2018
    • All subjects                 Make-up testing                                  Friday, April 27, 2018

You can assist during this time by encouraging your child to try to answer every question to the best of his/her ability and to not be nervous. This is just another way to show what he/she knows! Also, please be sure that your child gets plenty of sleep the night before and eats a good breakfast each morning. Studies have shown that students perform better when they are rested and have eaten. Free breakfast will be provided to all students on all testing dates (excluding make-up dates). Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Michelle Walker, Principal
